What should you pack for a stay on a houseboat?
Have you booked your stay on the STAY-Ô One , our exceptional floating house anchored at Anse Mitan, in Martinique? Excellent idea! Living on the water is a unique experience, both exotic and soothing. But before embarking, one question arises: what should you pack for a stay on a houseboat ? Here is our checklist so you don't forget anything and fully enjoy the experience.
But first and foremost, remember that you'll be accessing our houseboat via a tender. Your luggage won't get wet, but it may get caught in some sea spray. Avoid oversized suitcases, which will take up a lot of space in the tender and on board, even though our houseboat is spacious!
🎒 Think practical : avoid large, hard-shell suitcases. A soft bag will be easier to pack on board.
Light but suitable clothing
On the water, the climate is mild and sunny, with a light sea breeze. Choose:
- Lightweight and breathable outfits (linen, cotton, natural materials),
- A lightweight cardigan for cooler evenings,
- A swimsuit (or two) , essential for taking a dip at any time,
- A hat, sunglasses and sunscreen (organic preferably).
👡 Tip : Heels are useless, keep the pretty shoes for going out: on board you will be barefoot all the time!
The essentials for enjoying life on board
The houseboat is fully equipped, with TV, Wi-Fi and a connected speaker, but a few personal elements can enrich your experience:
- A good book or an e-reader to enjoy the calm of the water,
- Headphones and a chill playlist , sunset atmosphere guaranteed,
- A well-charged camera or smartphone to capture magical moments,
And what about hygiene/beauty?
No need to overdo it, we're here to disconnect! Bring:
- Your essential toiletries (gentle shampoo, organic soap, etc.),
- A minimal first aid kit (bandages, Doliprane, etc.),
- Your hairbrush, moisturizer and makeup remover if needed.
In short, traveling on a houseboat like the STAY-Ô One is the perfect opportunity to travel light and get back to basics. Pack a simple suitcase, suited to the tropical climate and life on the water... and let yourself be carried away!
